Up to snuff

Snuff box owned by Frederick the Great of Prussia. There are about 3,000 diamonds on this box!

The very first time I visited The Met I saw this jewel encrusted snuff box that kind of changed my life. I mean this is how you live people! Historically, snuff was ground up tobacco leaves that was snorted to get hits of nicotine. Although people of all social classes "snuffed" the wealthy took their passion to another level encrusting them in emeralds, diamonds, rubies, and other precious gems, seriously these guys didn't mess around. Can you imagine having something like this on your coffee table? no big deal right? You can keep your tray of candles and figurines, I'll take a snuff box any day.
